The VPD\u0027s budget proposal, which includes the hiring of 100 more police officers, will be presented Thursday to the Vancouver police board.
VPD management will present the proposed 2023 operating budget to the Vancouver police board on Thursday, as part of the annual budgeting process that happens every November. The board will then make a recommendation to city council, which will make the final decision on the police budget as part of the city’s overall operating budget.
The proposed police budget release Tuesday estimates that the cost of hiring 100 police officers, as well as 20 civilian professionals the VPD is also recommending, will add $15.7 million to the budget.
