In 2000, while serving with the RCMP, Burton captained the St. Roch II, retracing the historic voyage of the first ship to circumnavigate North America. This ambitious undertaking involved 50 ports of call across seven countries, accomplished in 169 days. Burton proudly shares that their expedition captivated an audience of approximately 17 million people worldwide, shedding light on the story of the original St. Roch.Another Arctic expedition saw Burton engrossed in the search for the long-lost Franklin expedition ships. Collaborating with an associate using sonar technology, they came remarkably close to their target, 14 years before the Erebus was finally discovered. Burton vividly recalls their near-discovery, stating they were just 60 nautical miles away, a mere distance in the vast Arctic landscape. Over the years, Burton has donned numerous hats, serving as a captain, diver, photographer, and expedition leader, forging connections along his path.
