BabyGoRound estimates the number of people needing help with baby supplies has gone up 10 per cent over the last couple of years because of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and inflation.

She said women fleeing violence in the home or refugees often leave without any of their possessions or money, making it difficult to get the critical baby gear they need to care for their babies. She said it was difficult as a new mom during an isolating pandemic to get by without the help of extended family nearby to rely on or an established community.Article content

“We’re at this crossroads right now where we just really need the help of the community in order to meet the needs of families. We’re seeing a greater need than we have the resources to keep up with,” said Gibson.Article content
