Vancouver is considering installing water meters in all homes to encourage water conservation and potentially lower water bills. The city currently meters water usage in apartment buildings and new constructions but most residents pay a flat rate. Councilor Sarah Kirby-Yung argues that metering will lead to reduced consumption and lower bills, as well as save taxpayers money by reducing pressure on aging infrastructure. City staff are reviewing implementation timelines and financial benefits.
