Ice House served up $2.5 million in alcohol sales through the first six months of 2022, putting the establishment near the University of Texas at San Antonio atop the sales tally for locally owned Bexar County bars, restaurants and chains.
The biggest sellers, as usual, were event venues and hotels. Aramark Sports & Entertainment, the concessionaire for the, raked in $10.5 million from January to June, according to the latest data from the Texas Comptroller’s Office. State and national bar and restaurant chains that have multiple San Antonio locations were also big sellers through the first half.For this biggest-sellers list, the Express-News is highlighting locally owned bars, restaurants and chains with the highest totals during the first six months of 2022.
Topping the list is Hills & Dales, the 40-plus-year-old property near Bandera Road and Loop 1604. It has had multiple owners and has in recent years under current owners Justin Vitek and Mike McMillen been transformed from its “biker bar” notoriety. Hills & Dales offers a full bar. Liquor is its top seller, according to state data., posted $2.1 million in sales. Cafe Olé features Tex-Mex food, margaritas and a large patio.
Bars and restaurants aren’t the only establishments in San Antonio selling millions of dollars worth of alcohol. Sugars strip club on Northwest Loop 410 is a popular place to grab a few drinks and recorded $2.1 million in sales from January to June. It sold $288,224 in liquor in January, its best month this year. Its second-best month was February.
