“We still need your help,” said Marianna Tronchuk, a Ukrainian refugee who moved to Utah last June, as she attended a rally at the state Capitol marking the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of her home country.
Speakers urged attendees to keep Ukrainians in their thoughts as the country struggles with power outages a year into the war.
“I really hope people today are going to see us and they will be reminded that this war is going on and it’s already been a year,” said Marianna Tronchuk, a Ukrainian refugee who moved to Utah last June and attended Saturday’s rally. “We still need your help.” “It was hard, because my whole family is still in Ukraine,” Tronchuk said. “They have electricity for a couple of hours, heat as well. … We can go through a loss of electricity and heat, but the worst thing is that we are losing our best people.”
