Griffith was placed under arrest for driving under the influence with two or more prior convictions in 10 years, driving on a suspended license, being an alcohol restricted driver, ignition interlock device, failure to operate within a single lane and having an open container of alcohol in his car. On March 8, 2023, Griffith posted bail and was released from jail. We wanted to know why prosecutors with the Utah County Attorney’s Office did not seek a “no bail” warrant. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray tells 2News Investigates that Judge Pullan set Griffith’s bail at $5,000 without their input. And says when Griffith appeared he was still in custody.
And then said, “There's an argument that I think is fair that the pendulum has swung a little too far the other way in Utah where we've maybe gotten a little too lax when it comes to second chances although I think we all believe in second chances. There has to be a piece of responsibility there and so holding people more accountable, I think we're seeing that pendulum readjust the other direction and I support that.
