In a new nighttime ritual, Michael Hoffman breaths from a portable nebulizer to hydrate his throat and vocal cords at his home on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020. Hoffman, 54, was one of the first people in Dallas to fall critically ill with COVID-19.

Dr. Michael Brode, medical director at University of Texas Health Austin’s Post-COVID-19 Program, said in a webinar on Friday that some COVID-19 symptoms that aren’t often spoken about, like dizziness and high heart rate, can make it difficult for people to return back to their pre-COVID selves.
