Some faculty at the University of Texas at Austin condemned the administration’s decision on Wednesday to call in state troopers to disperse a pro-Palestinian protest they said posed no threat of violence or disruption to classes. The Department of Public Safety said it arrested 34 demonstrators, at times pinning students and a journalist to the ground during an event that largely consisted of students chanting phrases like “ Free Palestine ” and attempting to walk to the school's South Mall .
