The United States Postal Service (USPS) has issued a new alert regarding the increasing incidents of mail theft and robberies targeting mail carriers. The agency provides an update on Project Safe Delivery, a campaign launched to combat postal crime and protect postal employees.
The United States Postal Service ( USPS ) has issued a new alert regarding the increasing incidents of mail theft and robberies targeting mail carriers. According to the agency, there were 412 carrier robberies and 38,500 mailbox-related theft incidents reported during the 2022 fiscal year. By the first half of the next fiscal year, 305 carriers had been robbed and 25,000 mailbox-related theft incidents had taken place.
The USPS has been working on Project Safe Delivery, a campaign launched in collaboration with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) to combat postal crime and protect postal employees. While mail theft is still a concern, the initiative has shown some positive results in reducing the numbers
