“It was very surprising,” Luter said. “I was shocked, but I was also so thankful and just grateful for the opportunity. … It just feels real good.”
For just the second time in program history, South Alabama will have multiple players in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Luter, a Hattiesburg, Miss., native, has 37 tackles, five pass breakups and an interception this season. He was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick in 2021, when he totaled four interceptions and 10 PBUs. “It feels good knowing that I get to go after my friend Jalen went last year,” Wayne said. “So it’s just like a little tradition thing. We’ve talked about it a lot since the invitation last week. … I definitely want to go have a good game on my home field.”
The 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4. The game will be broadcast live via NFL Network.
