Feds: Suspects arrested, charged in robbery, shooting that injured Columbus police officer
All but one criminal case filed within the past day the South District are sealed, according to federal online court records. The only unsealed case appears to be an unrelated gun case out of Cincinnati.
The deadly Thursday shootout between Columbus police and three adult male suspects followed what police called a crime spree that included the theft of a black Porsche Cayenne SUV from the Byers Import Porsche Columbus dealership in the 400 block of North Hamilton Road in Whitehall and an armed bank robbery in which at least $90,000 was taken at gunpoint from Fifth Third Bank, 2455 Hilliard-Rome Road, on Columbus' Far West Side.
One of the three suspects died at the scene of the shootout on Interstate 70 east near the West Mound Street exit in South Franklinton. A Columbus police officer was shot high in the leg, critically wounded and taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center by his partner.Dispatch reporters Bethany Bruner and Mark Ferenchik contributed to this report.
