Democratic Institutions and Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Minister Ruby Sahota—one of eight first-time ministers added to cabinet on Dec. 20—has confirmed Jessie Pierre as her chief of staff. Pierre was most recently acting chief of staff to now-former minister Filomena Tassi, who had been in charge of the FedDev Ontario file but was shuffled out of cabinet after announcing she would not seek re-election.
Hutchinson had been working for Tassi since the 2021 election, starting as a communications assistant in her office as then-public services and procurement minister. He followed Tassi when she took over the FedDev Ontario portfolio in 2022, becoming press secretary soon after, and was promoted to director of communications late last year. Edward Hutchinson is now working for the Canadian Steel Producers Association.
