Motorists are being reminded to slow down and pay attention to signage as they travel along Highway 101 between Windsor and Falmouth. For example, the former Falmouth Exit 7 off-ramp heading towards the Annapolis Valley is closed due to the ongoing twinning project, with a newer off-ramp available.Multiple people were injured following a nighttime motor vehicle crash on Highway 101 in Falmouth.
“There were two vehicles involved, two passenger cars. They collided head-on underneath the overpass in the Falmouth area on the 101,” said Doug Matheson, a deputy fire chief with the Windsor Fire Department.About 20 firefighters attended the call, as well as a number of RCMP officers and paramedics.
“It was a serious crash, there’s no doubt about it. But the injuries, in my mind, were from mild to serious.” The two people in the other vehicle, which was a white Nissan Rogue, also suffered injuries and were transported to hospital by EHS.The highway was shut down briefly for the safety of those involved at the scene. It was reopened once the cars were towed and the debris cleaned up.With construction predicted to continue for a number of years along this stretch of Highway 101, Matheson is encouraging motorists to remain vigilant when behind the wheel.
