Castro Valley: 580 closed in both directions at Eden Canyon Road
Interstate 580 reopened Saturday afternoon after a closure that began with a pickup truck crashing onto BART tracks and a subsequent bomb squad investigation of a suspicious device in a vehicle at Eden Canyon Road.
An abandoned car with a suspicious package inside caused both directions of the freeway to be closed east of Eden Canyon Road shortly before 3 p.m., and was the most recent reason BART service was stopped between Castro Valley and Dublin/Pleasanton.
