Clusters of blackouts across the three communities were reported today, Aug. 26, by BC Hydro.
Power has been restored to nearly 44,000 BC Hydro customers following a massive, but short-lived power outage in Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster.
The provincial Crown corporation confirmed with Glacier Media that customers came back on the grid at around 10 a.m. this morning, Aug. 26, after a 20-minute outage due to a transmission circuit failure.She added crews were able to restore power quickly by switching the tens of thousands of homes, residences and businesses onto another circuit.
This included the west and south neighbourhoods of Coquitlam, including Austin Heights, Maillardville and Burquitlam; the Lougheed, UniverCity and Burnaby Lake areas in Burnaby; as well as parts of Sapperton and Brunette Creek in New West.BC Hydro is working to restore power to tens of thousands of customers in Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster this morning, Aug. 26.
