The head of the Paris 2024 Olympics said the IOC would need to decide whether athletes from Russia and its ally Belarus can participate in the Summer Games next year

When asked about the issue, an official from French President Emmanuel Macron's office also said it was ultimately up to the IOC to decide whether to let Russian athletes compete, and that Macron was in favour of respecting historical precedents and letting them take part under a neutral banner. Poland said on Thursday that it would be possible to build a coalition of some 40 countries, including the U.S., Britain and Canada, by Feb. 10 supporting theAthletes from Russia and its neighbour Belarus, which aided Moscow's invasion of Ukraine a year ago, have been banned from many international competitions since.
