Promoting milk and the perceived benefits of Guinness at the time, this rather impressive-looking advertising hoarding was located close to what is now a fast food restaurant in Watford town centre.is delighted to share photos from the Watford Museum archive and this week we recall this scene from almost 60 years ago.

The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “This unusual photograph from the mid-1960s looks along King Street towards the High Street.“The plot of fenced land and the planting bed beyond is the site of the King's Arms which was closed and demolished in the early 1960s. “The next shop along the High Street, which can just be seen on the left, was a Burton's store. This shop was taken over by Woolworth's as they expanded and now we have a McDonald's on this corner.
