For kids, Halloween is one of the best nights of the year. But for adults, it can be the best time to let their makeup skills shine.
The 33-year-old from Riverview, N.B. says over the last few years, she's really levelled up her skills. "But I would have to say my favourite was the year before last. I was a deer skeleton. It was pretty cool.” “They are often shocked and do a double take. Some people just stare, but kids typically have the greatest reaction because they look at me with such wonder,” she says.
“My love of makeup, plus gory horror movies, it was a no-brainer. My favourite looks to do are gory or something that everyone instantly recognizes. I love it when people are in awe of my work.”“My favourite look ever was when I made my kiddo into Regan from The Exorcist. We got all the clothes thrifting,” she recalls.
“Everything I’ve learned is from personal trial and error. I find it’s easiest to just use an image for inspiration, and then start practicing. I’ve had several misses but also many wins.""I want to do a reptile look this year," she adds."I’m going to try special contact lenses, too, to make it look more realistic.”Gray typically only does makeup on herself and her children, but that in itself can be a challenge, she says.
