Bishop’s High, which lost to Canyon Crest Academy in the San Diego Section Division 1 championships, won a quarterfinal match Friday in the Southern California Regional Boys Tennis Championship before losing in the semifinals later in the day.

The Knights beat Rolling Hills Peninsula 4-3 in the morning, but fell 5-2 to Irvine University 5-2 in the afternoon at the Claremont Club.

Canyon Crest Academy, which beat Bishop’s 10-8 in the San Diego Section championships, lost a hard-fought quarterfinal match 4-3 Irvine Woodbridge.“We played really well against a very talented team,” said Canyon Crest coach Kevin Brown. “There were a lot of three-set matches. “I’m really proud of our kids. They played really well, really hard. We didn’t lose this match, we got beat by a good team.
