But if any team is prepared to weather the loss of two halfbacks who could become Sunday stars, it’s probably Texas. The Longhorns remain loaded in the backfield with the return of Keilan Robinson, Jonathon Brooks, Jaydon Blue and converted wideout Savion Red plus the addition of top-ranked freshman CJ Baxter.
Outside of those two veterans, Blue, Red and Baxter loom as a hyper-talented trio eager to push the upperclassmen for touches — which is exactly the sort of demeanor Sarkisian and second-year running backs coach Tashard Choice want to see from their youngsters.He played quarterback, wideout and running back at Grand Prairie and spent his first year at Texas as a receiver. But at 5-10 and 214 pounds, Red moves more like a powerhouse running back.
