Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Surrey campus library becomes one of the first in Canada to offer a braille printer for public and student use. The embosser allows individuals with visual disabilities to access tactile reading materials, improving inclusivity and accessibility for students like sociology student Michael McClellan. Anyone can use the self-serve embosser for a small fee, while KPU instructors can utilize it for free to support their students.
A university library in Surrey is among the first in Canada to have a braille printer available for school and community use.
A lifelong braille user, McClellan says the new embosser will help improve access to class materials. “I need to have class materials such as slideshows in braille, otherwise I have no idea where we're at in class."
