The Saskatchewan Rush general manager — who won the Champion’s Cup twice as head coach and GM of the Rush in 2018 and 2016 — is certainly not used to seeing his team so far down in the National Lacrosse League standings and out of a playoff spot.
Earlier this week, the Rush acquired veteran goalie Eric Penney and a second-round selection in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 Entry Draft.Penney will complement holdover Adam Shute, who has struggled somewhat with consistency this season. Keenan said he thinks the move sends a message to his team, “that, ‘OK, I still believe in you guys, I still think we can win this year and we’re not going to blow this thing up and let’s try and get a little bit better this weekend and move on from there,’ but we really need to win this weekend and try and give our guys the best opportunity.”Keenan feels the team’s offence needs to be much better.
“If we’re 2-and-7 at mid-point, and we’ve lost to Colorado twice and they’re ahead of us in the standings, we’re in pretty deep,” admitted Keenan.
