HIROSHIMA, Japan — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to attend the Group of Seven nations summit in person, significantly amplifying his warnings about Russia’s potential to escalate the war in Ukraine by visiting Hiroshima, the site of nuclear destruction in World War II.
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine looms large and will be a significant topic of conversation,” Jake Sullivan, Biden’s national security adviser, told reporters aboard Air Force One. The leaders of the world’s largest economic powers also announced new sanctions on Russia, attempting to punish the country for the invasion, as the G-7 summit was dominated by the war for the second year in a row.
