And obviously likes it when the Ukrainian media describe him as “outrageous.”“I told you it was a crazy place.” A turning point came in 2014 with Ukraine’s “Revolution of Dignity.” That’s when he decided to renounce his Russian citizenship. He could no longer tolerate Vladimir Putin, he told me. Simple as that.
“I was absolutely convinced, knowing the Ukrainian people that they will never surrender. They can only be killed.”
