U.K. ambassador to U.S. has resigned after 'inept' Trump comments
The UK Ambassador to the U.S. Sir Kim Darroch has resigned after a leak of diplomatic cables in which he described President Donald Trump's administration as "diplomatically clumsy and inept" and said he doubted it would become "substantially more normal.
Trump also slammed outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May for failing to clinch a Brexit deal. In a letter to Sir Simon McDonald, the most senior official at the Foreign Office, Darroch said the dispute meant he could not continue in his role. "Since the leak of official documents from this embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador," he wrote, according to the Guardian.
