UIW elevates assistant Clint Killough to Cardinals’ next head coach
Incarnate Word will elevate associate head coach and wide receivers coach Clint Killough to become the program’s next head coach, UIW president Thomas Evans and athletic director Richard Duran announced Thursday morning.
“I believe at this time in the UIW football journey, we need a leader with a proven UIW track record and a love for this program,” Duran said. “We did not have to go far to find that person in Coach Killough.” Before this year’s 12-1 mark and last year’s 10-3 campaign that included the program’s first playoff win, UIW had never won more than six games in a season.
A San Antonio native and UIW alum who played for the Cardinals from 2013 through 2015, Killough returned to the program in 2018 as the quality control coach for inside receivers. He was promoted to insider receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
