Students plan to gather at 4 p.m. at the university's MD Anderson Library, 4333 University Drive. A vigil will follow at 7 p.m. at Agnes Arnold Hall, where both of the deaths occurred.UH closes academic building for semester as student deaths prompt mental health concerns
The protest includes calls for extended hours and more counselors at UH Counseling and Psychological Services. Students will also ask the university to retrofit Agnes Arnold Hall to block outdoor access from higher levels – or to tear it down. The deaths have devastated the campus community, and many have questioned why university officials had not taken earlier steps to secure the building. It has reportedly been the site of multiple suicides over the years, including one on Monday, one on Feb. 15 and another in 2017.
