The stars align as Deion Sanders brings his popular Buffaloes squad to a sold-out Rose Bowl to face the No. 23 Bruins in a Pac-12 showdown Saturday evening
UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers, trying to avoid Stanford’s Tristan Sinclair on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Stanford Stadium, could make his second consecutive start Saturday against Colorado at the Rose Bowl. UCLA will have its first sellout crowd of the season as the Bruins welcome coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes to the Rose Bowl.
The game is also expected to draw national attention as Colorado has played in four of the top 10 most-watched college football this season, according to 247sports. The UCLA roster features three players from the state of Colorado, including linebacker Kain Medrano, defensive lineman Jake Heimlicher and offensive lineman Jake Wiley.
Colorado’s defense allows 157.4 rushing yards per game, which ranks 87th in the country. The Buffaloes’ pass defense ranks last in the country. The Buffaloes have struggled to produce out of the backfield, averaging just 86.3 yards per game. Running back Dylan Edwards is their leading rusher with 250 yards through seven games.
Sanders averages 345.7 yards through the air and has thrown for 21 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He has been sacked 34 times – an average of 4.9 per game – but has managed not to fumble the ball away.
