Long Beach State faces Grand Canyon in its opener
UCLA and Long Beach State will head to Fairfax, Virginia, next week as two local representatives of the West Coast for the 2023 NCAA men’s volleyball tournament at George Mason University.
UCLA enters as the No. 1 seed for the tourney after winning the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title, while Long beach State earned a wild card bid while tying Hawaii for the Big West regular season title. Other teams in the tourney are No. 2 seed Hawaii , winner of the Big West tournament; Grand Canyon as a wild card out of the MPSF; and Penn State , Ohio State and King University of Tennessee .
Long Beach State will meet Grand Canyon on May 2 , the winner advancing to a semifinal match against UCLA on May 4. Hawaii is also seeded into a semifinal match May 4, against the winner of the Penn State match against Ohio State or King.
