Uber's seed deal will go down as one of the greatest venture-capital investments of all-time—even when compared with the famous early bets on Google and Facebook
In 2010, a group of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists invested about $1.6 million in an unknown startup called UberCab, which aimed to let people hail a luxury black car through a smartphone app.
That fledgling startup, of course, would become ride-hailing powerhouse Uber Technologies Inc., whose IPO on Friday will shower those early backers with once-in-a-lifetime investment returns.
