U.S. Soccer Federation chief says women's team hadn't raised concerns prior to filing a gender discrimination suit; a player representative begs to differ
U.S. Soccer Federation President Carlos Cordeiro said Friday that the organization was surprised by the gender-discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Women’s National Team last week because players hadn’t earlier voiced complaints about the collective-bargaining agreement that the parties struck two years ago.
Cordeiro said he spoke with veteran players Wednesday and was working with them to “resolve this matter”—and keep focus on the Women’s World Cup that kicks off June 7 in France.
