Republican Jeff Bartos said he had a time-sensitive thyroid procedure on Wednesday.

McGuinness said the operation will keep Bartos in the hospital overnight, but it was successful and the candidate expects to be back on the campaign trail with a limited schedule on Sunday. Bartos is also expected to participate in a Republican Senate debate in Carlisle Monday evening. ”During a recent routine medical exam, my physician identified a nodule on my thyroid. Through testing, it was determined that, although the nodule was not presently cancerous, my thyroid should be removed, and so earlier today my thyroid was surgically removed. The surgery was successful and I’m resting comfortably.
