A U.S. district court for Massachusetts issued a default judgment against Frederick L. The application noted a foreign judgment can be enforced in B.C. either by common law or if the judgment is from a reciprocating jurisdiction. The default judgment offends “Canadian notions of fundamental justice and principles of natural justice” and the enforcement should be denied, says Sharp’s response.Article content
In an affidavit filed in B.C. Supreme Court, the SEC noted that Sharp had been served with the allegations, a summons and a temporary freeze order to an email, which his wife later said was not his. The SEC also couriered court documents to his home address in West Van.
