A U.S. prosecutor alleged that Mexican drug lord “El Chapo” channeled $1 million to Honduras’ president to protect drug shipments going through that country
José de CórdobaA U.S. prosecutor alleged Wednesday that Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán gave $1 million to the brother of the Honduran president that was meant to go to the president to protect drug shipments going through the country.
Prosecutor Jason Richman made the allegation during opening statements at the New York drug trafficking trial of Juan Antonio “Tony” Hernández, 41 years old, the younger brother of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, 50. Mr. Richman didn’t elaborate on the alleged bribe.
