Job openings, a measure of labor demand, slipped by 31,000 to a seasonally adjusted 7.2 million in July, the Labor Department said in its monthly Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS, on Tuesday. Hiring increased by 237,000 jobs to 6.0 million in July. The hiring rate rose to 3.9% from 3.8% in June.
