BOSTON — The U.S. Coast Guard’s immediate priority as it launches an investigation into the implosion of a submersible that was exploring the Titanic wreckage…

He says the investigation will work to determine what led to the tragedy, as well as make recommendations to appropriate authorities to pursue civil or criminal charges, as necessary.

Neubauer said that, typically, once the initial phase of collecting evidence has concluded, a formal hearing is held to gather additional witness testimony.Article content Neubauer did not say what may have been recovered from the sea floor so far, but added that evidence will not be released as it is collected out of respect for other agencies involved, and for the victims’ families.

The Titan lost contact with the Polar Prince about an hour and 45 minutes into its descent to the wreck of the Titanic, almost four kilometres below the surface of the sea.
