A late Saturday afternoon alert from RCMP to U.S. Border Patrol led to the arrest of six individuals who had illegally crossed from Quebec into the U.S. Following a high-speed chase, the group was apprehended and admitted to crossing the border illegally.
Late on a Saturday afternoon, two days before President-elect Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on Canadian goods due to migrants and fentanyl, the RCMP informed U.S. Border Patrol about a group crossing illegally from Quebec to an area near Chateaugay, N.Y. Initially, Border Patrol agents spotted the group but lost them in the forests. Later, they discovered a white Acura with New Jersey plates that was eventually involved in a high-speed chase .
The chase ended with the arrest of six individuals, including one found in the trunk, who admitted to crossing the border illegally from Mexico, Colombia, and Guatemala. Between Thursday and Sunday, Border Patrol apprehended at least 16 foreign nationals illegally entering the U.S
