British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved into an intensive care unit after experiencing days of persistent COVID-19 symptoms — including fever and a cough. He tested positive for the disease in late March.
"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital," the statement said.
Johnson has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab"to deputise for him where necessary," according to the statement., Raab said 51,608 people have tested positive and 5,373 have died. Nearly 18,000 people with coronavirus symptoms have been admitted into hospitals. Raab had said that the prime minister had had a"comfortable night in the hospital, and he's in good spirits."
