Tyson Bowen created Real Canadian Recreation in rural Pictou County as a place for veterans suffering from PTSD to find healing.A man who worked to create a place of healing for veterans struggling with PTSD has died.Bowen, who grew up in Pictou County and served 15 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, was the founder of Real Canadian Recreation in rural Pictou County, a place he wanted to be a place of healing for soldiers who struggled with the trauma they endured from their service.
Mike Upshall became friends with Bowen when they were deployed together in Afghanistan in 2010. Bowen was employed as crew commander of the platoon at the time. “Tyson was such a special person when it came to helping others while dealing with his own struggles and hardships,” he said.
