Some prefer pens, pencils, or computers, and less and less these days, some prefer typewriters.
“My understanding from her son was that she loved this typewriter, and that every major project she worked on, including the radio plays, including the television scripts, including 'Death on the Ice,' all of those were written on that typewriter,” said Colleen Quigley, who works with the archives and special collections division of the MUN library.
“We'll probably have to get a special preservation officer to come in, and it sounds like it's going to be a very intensive job to even clean this typewriter because of how it was manufactured,” Quigley said. The typewriter isn’t the type commonly seen for writers to use either, but Brown used it for a variety of things outside of writing her books.
Quigley said the mimeograph would be on the typewriter in order to be printed, so that’s why it's a wide format.
