No new wildfires have been confirmed as of late afternoon Sunday
North Bay 5 near the community of Cobalt is not under control, while Timmins 3 at the southeast corner of Lower Opikinimika Lake is being held.The fire hazard is low across most of the region, with pockets of moderate fire hazard north of Cochrane to James Bay, areas west of Sudbury and south of Algonquin Provincial Park.
Find the full news release from the Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry below:Time of Report – 17:20There were no new wildland fires confirmed in the Northeast Region by the late afternoon of May 26.The fire hazard is low across the majority of the Northeast Region, with pockets of moderate fire hazard north of Cochrane to James Bay, areas west of Sudbury and south of Algonquin Provincial Park.
Fires are to be ignited no sooner than two hours before sunset and are to be extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise. Always have tools/water adequate to contain the fire at the site. Know the rules for safe outdoor burning; consult the full set of Outdoor Burning Regulations. To report a wildland fire located north of the French and Mattawa rivers, please dial 310-FIRE. To report a wildland fire located south of the French or Mattawa Rivers, please dial 9-1-1.
