TANJUNG MALIM: Two new telecommunication towers are currently being built to provide better coverage and telecommunication quality in rural areas in Slim, says Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
The Communications and Multimedia Minister said the two towers were being constructed at Risda Changkat Sulaiman and Changkat Serunai.“Both towers are expected to start operation in the second quarter of 2021," he told reporters after visiting the Slim by-election media centre near here on Wednesday .Saifuddin also said an existing transmitter tower at Felda Besout has been upgraded from 3G to 4G during the first quarter of this year.
“I am aware that there are still many places, especially in the rural areas, in need of upgrades in telecommunication services," he said, adding that there were five Internet centres at Felda Besout 1 to 5. Separately, Saifuddin said more than 800 premises nationwide will be able to enjoy wider broadband coverage in 2022.
