In the letter, principal Matt Gagnier called it “a blatant act of antisemitism, which is absolutely unacceptable.” “I hope that these students can fully understand the severity of their actions; and at the same time be educated and engaged as part of an inclusive, positive and more tolerant path forward,” said parent Aaron Smith. “I know the school is working on implementing a plan of action to address non-tolerance and hate, and I am encouraged by the communication and engagement by Matt Gagnier and Mary Jane Farrish in particular.
In a statement, the OCDSB said that since the incident, the school has “taken a number of steps to respond to concerns of antisemitism and the safety of students.
