Weekend event led off a full week of Pride activities in Sudbury
When they decided to organize a two-spirit social and powwow, Quinn Organ said they wanted to create an event where people in the 2SLGBTQ+ community could feel welcome.
“I wanted to create a safe space where people could come together and that’s dedicated to us,” Organ said. As explained by LGBTQhealth.ca, two-spirit “refers to a person who identifies as having both a masculine and a feminine spirit, and is used by some Indigenous people to describe their sexual, gender and/or spiritual identity.
The reconciliation workshop was conducted by Alexa Sagutcheway and Sacred Faries who were among a group of 15 to 20 Indigenous youth through the Students Commission of Canada.
