Salty-sweet heaven.
How did the Cheez-It s'more come to be? The first iteration of the idea came from Izard's pastry chef, Mathhew Rice: "I talked all the time about how much I loved Cheez-Its, so one day [he] surprised me with chocolate- and peanut butter–coated Cheez-Its. I just loved them," Izard says. In fact, Izard was so crazy about the combo that Rice incorporated Cheez-It crumbs into her wedding cake.
Izard had the idea to combine the crunchy, sweet-and-salty snack with s'mores after she had a child and started throwing a lot of kid-friendly outdoor parties. "It was taking some childhood flavors and memories and turning them into a dessert—it was fun and flavorful," she says.
Let guests and kids roast marshmallows over a fire to their desired doneness and grab the crackers to assemble the Cheez-It s'mores. Kids will love them! Adults will love them! Let's all welcome summer 2018 while licking chocolate and peanut butter from our fingers.
