The Hill Times

Three current and former Hill staffers are running for the Conservative nomination to go toe-to-toe with three-term Liberal MP Anita Vandenbeld in the national capital region swing riding of Ottawa West-Nepean, Ont., in the 2025 general election. Senate staffer Jennifer Jennekens, House staffer Ashti Waissi, and former Hill staffer and now senior public servant Ryan Telford are in the running to carry the blue banner in the next election.

Prior to joining the public service, he worked for then-Progressive Conservative leader Joe Clark as a policy adviser. Before the 2003 merger of the Progressive Conservative and Canadian Alliance parties, Telford worked in the PC whip and Question Period co-ordinator’s office. After the merger, he ran unsuccessfully for the Conservative Party’s nomination in 2004 in the riding of Peterborough, Ont.
