A report of two males in a vehicle with a long gun Thursday afternoon near College Road and Thetis Crescent led to École John Stubbs Memorial School and Royal Roads University briefly being placed in hold-and-secure mode.

The two were arrested about 3:30 p.m. after they were spotted pointing the gun toward a treed area. The weapon was found to be a replica, a realistic-looking airsoft rifle.In another incident Thursday morning, a 14-year-old was arrested after a youth was seen pointing a firearm at motorists as he walked along Departure Bay Road in Nanaimo.Police responded to the incident about 11:50 a.m. after several people called 911.
