A Twitter representative told Newsweek Sunday that their new Synthetic and Manipulated Media policy had been applied to the tweet.
Twitter has marked an edited video of former Vice President Joe Biden seemingly endorsing President Donald Trump's 2020 reelection bid, which Trump has retweeted, with the platform's new"manipulated media" tag.
Scavino referred to Biden as"Sleepy Joe," Trump's derogatory nickname for the moderate Democratic candidate. The president later retweeted the clip, writing:"I agree with Joe!" In response, Greg Schultz, Biden's campaign manager, condemned Facebook for not slapping the edited video with a similar label."We live in an era of increasingly rampant disinformation," Schultz said in a."Facebook's malfeasance when it comes to trafficking in blatantly false misinformation is a national crisis in this respect. It is also an unconscionable act of putting profit above not just our country, but every country.
