Twitter's services were down for thousands on Monday.There were more than 8,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the social media platform, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform.
"Twitter API" and "Did Twitter" shot to the top of the Twitter trending topics in the U.S. as a result. Twitter CEO Elon Musk said last month the company would "no longer support free access to the Twitter API." The free version of Application Programming Interface is used by thousands of developers to analyze or better utilize Twitter data.
